Welcome to the Prescott Area Chavurah!
In the Spring of 2025 about 20 people came together to form a Jewish chavurah, or fellowship, based on Jewish values and friendship. We weren't certain of what we were or what we wanted to offer. but we knew we wanted to celebrate our Judaism in a warm and embracing environment
Since then, we've grown to about 50 individuals. We've tried various programs. Most successful, some less so, and at this point have several "regular monthly events" as well as frequent pop-ups when we attend concerts at the square, hike at one of the areas lakes or meet for happy hour.
There are somethings we don't have:
We don't have a building.
We don't have dues.
We don't require your attendance at any event.
But we DO have:
We DO have monthly Shabbat dinners.
We DO have monthly men's' breakfasts and women's lunches.
We DO require respect and kindness.
And we DO ask that you bring not just yourself but your ideas, your willingness to volunteer, and your desire to make the Chavurah a success.
What is a Chavurah?
A chavurah (or havurah) is a small group of like-minded Jews who come together to celebrate Shabbat and holidays and share communal experiences. An alternative to established Jewish institutions, chavurot emphasize participation by the entire community. The goals and activities are determined by the entire community, rather than top-down direction by a rabbi.
